UfM Secretary General holds meetings in Amman with the UfM co-presidency and the Anna Lindh Foundation
8 May 2022. Invited by Princess Rym Al Ali, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, the UfM Secretary General, Nasser Kamel, visited Amman on Sunday 8 of May 2022 and held several meetings with the representatives of the Anna Lindh Foundation and the Co-Presidency of the UfM.
The Secretary General first took part in a joint coordination meeting conveyed at the initiative of Princess Rym Al Ali and gathering the co-president of the UfM, both the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jordan, Ambassador Yousef Bataineh and Birgit Loeser, Head of MENA Region at the EU External Action Services. Mari Neuvonen, Chair of the Anna Lindh Foundation Board and Josep Ferré, Executive Director of the ALF also participated in that meeting which aimed at discussing synergies between the different institutions and explore future cooperation to foster dialogue in the region.
The Secretary held also bilateral meetings with the Co-presidency of the UfM from one side to discuss the activities of the Secretariat for the upcoming months, and on the other side, he had a comprehensive meeting Princess Rym Ali and the executive director of the Anna Lindh Foundation to follow up on some projects developed after the “Forum des Mondes Méditerranéens” held in Marseille last February. They also discussed the contribution of the Foundation to the celebration of the Day of the Mediterranean 2022.
The Secretary General also addressed the master’s degree students at the Jordan Media Institute. In a one-hour discussion, he presented the mission and the role of the UfM and its Secretariat, followed by a lively Q&A with the students about the challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean region.
