9 June 2021. The digital transformation requires new skills and competencies, educational programs and knowledge transfer in key blue economy sectors. The webinar on Digitalization skills in the Aquaculture and Tourism sectors in the Mediterranean Region” will provide an overview of the state-of-the-art and needs in digitalization skills in the Mediterranean region, with a particular focus on aquaculture and tourism. The event will gather representatives of government agencies, national and regional organisations, SMEs, local businesses, start-ups, academia, decision-makers, as well as end-users from the field of blue economy and ICT sectors to explore the potential of digitalization in the aquaculture and maritime tourism sectors with a focus on essential digital skills.
On the 2nd of February, the 42 Member Countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) adopted the 2nd UfM Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Blue Economy, renewing their political mandate to cooperate closely and address joint challenges. As part of the promotion of blue skills, careers and employment, the countries agreed to prioritize education, vocational training and scientific capacity to reduce the mismatch between the skills of the labour force and the evolving needs of industry.
