2nd Ministerial Conference on Environment and Renewable Energies of the Western Mediterranean Dialogue – 5+5 Dialogue
Lisbon, 2-3 March 2015
Deputy Secretary General Teresa Ribeiro and Special Representative of the Secretary General Ambassador George Saliba will represent the Union for the Mediterranean in the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Environment and Renewable Energies of the Western Mediterranean Dialogue – 5+5 Dialogue. During the conference the challenges of climate change and the cooperation on the field of renewable energies will be the key issues to be covered.
The Western Mediterranean Forum, also known as 5+5 Dialogue, is an informal political dialogue that brings together ten western Mediterranean countries: Algeria, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Mauritania, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia. Its aim is to reinforce and enrich the political, economic and cultural dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
Back to back and seizing the holding of the Ministerial meeting in Lisbon, a Green Business Week has also been organized from 3 to 5 March, as a booster event of economic growth, skilled and sustainable employment, science and research, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, leveraged by the growth in the world of the Green Economy.
The Union for the Mediterranean is committed to and works for the deployment and promotion of renewable energies, as well as of energy efficiency, and to address the challenges of climate change in the Mediterranean in order to build a more sustainable region and to foster social and economic development.
