Ahmad Masa’deh and Amr Moussa agree on future cooperation between the UfMS and the League of Arab States
Talks examined the political situation in the Middle East and its effect on the work of the Union for the Mediterranean, tools of cooperation between the two institutions, and prospects for economic projects on the southern rim of the Mediterranean. Masa’deh explained steps undertaken in the process of establishing the Secretariat, and Moussa confirmed that the Arab League stands ready to assist in that context. The two officials also examined the issue of financing and funding of projects and the possible contribution of the specialised funds of the Arab League.
Secretary General Masa’deh also met in separate meetings foreign ministers of Tunisia Kamal Murjan, Lebanon Ali Al-Shami and Bahrain Sheikh Khalid Al Khalifa. Talks examined ways of fostering the work of the Union for the Mediterranean especially in the domain of promoting and executing projects and the identification of suitable financing tools and funding mechanisms.
At the end of his visit to the League of Arab State, Masa’deh held a press conference for all Arab and international media present therein.
