Accelerating water action to build our countries back better post-COVID and scale up SDG delivery
7-16 July 2020. The UfM is co-organising together with the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and UN Environment Programme (UNEP) the high-level side event on “accelerating water action to build our countries back better post-COVID and scale up SDG delivery”, in the framework of the UN High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development.
High-level representatives of countries and of international organisations will reflect upon the opportunities and challenges around transformative post-COVID pathways leading to a new normal, based on accelerated delivery of science-based, cost-effective and sustainable actions. This approach will use water as an integrated connector to provide multiple benefits that help countries meet their diverse development, climate-related, biodiversity and disaster-related commitments. Collectively overcoming the shared challenges will leave participants with a better understanding of how accelerating water action through a multi-stakeholder partnership approach can generate significant environmental, economic and social progress and upscaledSDG delivery.
