Secretary General of the UfM participates in panel discussion in Hamburg: ‘Future in the South?’
The Secretary General of the UfM participated earlier this week in the panel discussion organized by the Körber Foundation and the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG) in Hamburg in the presence of an audience.
The event, which took place on May 21, tackled the topic ‘Future in the South? How Europe and North Africa are linked.’ Mr Sijilmassi joined as a panellist in a discussion that also featured the prominent political scientist, Prof. Dr. Claus Leggewie.
Among the topics discussed were the importance of Germany as a key trading partner in the region, the growing need for further regional economic and political cooperation in the wake of the new political landscape, and the central role played by the Union for the Mediterranean in boosting integration within the region.
German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG)
Founded in July 2007, the German-Arab Friendship Society (DAFG e.V.) advocates understanding, trust and co-operation between Germany and the Arab world. It is based on mutual respect and commitment, and is open to everyone who feels dedicated to the peaceful fostering of German-Arab ties. The society is characterized by its transparency, and the high level of collaborative possibilities available to its members and partners.
Körber Foundation
Social development calls for critical reflection. This is a principle to which Kurt A. Körber felt bound both as a German and as a world citizen. The foundation established by him takes on this social challenge at a national and an international level. As the owner of the Körber AG (public limited company), the Körber Foundation, led by its committees, has been developing its own profile for almost five decades. It brings together people from different political, social and cultural backgrounds.
