Hosted by the OECD, the UfM organised the second Task Force meeting on Financial Strategy on water issues for enhancing investment and sustainable development in the Mediterranean Paris, 9 July 2018.  The Mediterranean region is one of the most water-scarce areas in the world with more than more than 180 million people being considered water poor. Promoting regional partnerships and creating sustainable cooperation mechanisms on water use is needed to reverse this downward spiral. During his official visit to the European Parliament, UfM Designated Secretary General, Nasser Kamel, held talks with the President of the European Parliament and of the Bureau of the Parliamentary-Assembly of the UfM, Antonio Tajani. The core mission of the EuroMedMig-ReNet network is to promote research, training, and knowledge transfer on the key current issues and main challenges connected with the migratory research Agenda in the Mediterranean. The Union for the Mediterranean designated Secretary General Nasser Kamel met with Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel Algiers, 25-27 June 2018. Designated SG Nasser Kamel was received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Abdelkader Messahel.
