انعقد الاجتماع الوزاري التاسع للاتحاد من أجل المتوسط حول التعاون الصناعي في بروكسل بهدف مناقشة بيئة العمل في البلدان المتوسطية الأعضاء، وتقييم التوجهات الاستراتيجية المستقبلية للتعاون الاقتصادي الأورومتوسطي والتطلع لتعاون أكثر عمقًا.
The event brought together more than 300 participants from 25 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean Initiative for Jobs (Med4Jobs), a programme developed by the UfM Secretariat to contribute towards job creation and business development in the region, was launched at the conference.
ألقى رئيس الحكومة التونسية، علي العريض، كلمة رئيسية خلال الجلسة الافتتاحية للمؤتمر الاقتصادي المتوسطي. ونُظم هذا الحدث مناصفة بين الإتحاد من أجل المتوسط والحكومة التونسية بهدف معالجة تحديات البطالة والتنمية الإقليمية في منطقة جنوب البحر الأبيض المتوسط.
Under the auspices of the Head of the Tunisian Government, the Union for the Mediterranean will hold the Mediterranean Economic Conference in Tunis on 17 and 18 September, 2013. The conference, co-organized with the Tunisian Government, will focus on the theme of ‘Employment and Territorial Development’, offering a platform for reflection and action to address the unemployment challenge in the Southern Mediterranean region.
A High-level meeting with Arab Financial Institutions and Development Agencies was held at the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean on June 26th. Discussions focused on three main areas: Regional Infrastructure Networks, Employment Challenge and Job Creation, as well as Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development.
On the occasion of the International Conference on Productive work for youth in Tunisia and in the MENA region, UfM Secretary General discussed with Tunisian High-level officials concrete ways to support investment, development and employment in the region.
The relations between France and the Union for the Mediterranean and the development of an operational collaboration to implement concrete projects in the Mediterranean region were the main subjects of discussion between the Secretary General of the UfM, Fathallah Sijilmassi, and the French Minister of Administrative Reform, Decentralization and the Civil Service, Marylise Lebranchu.
Focusing on the improvement of skills for employment and entrepreneurship development in the Mediterranean countries, the UfM Secretariat co-organised the II Experts’ Meeting in Barcelona.
The UfM Secretariat held a joint session with 40 Directors and Researchers of Euro-Mediterranean Think Tanks. The event, organised in collaboration with the IEMed and EuroMesCo, aimed to discuss the future of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and the role of the UfM.
