• يجمع الأسبوع المتوسطي لعام 2017 بين أكثر من 2000 رجل أعمال لمناقشة الإمكانات البشرية والاقتصادية غير المستغلة لمنطقة المتوسط من مجموعة متنوعة من الزوايا.
• يجمع كل من الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط ومنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتنمية الصناعية (اليونيدو) وجمعية غرف التجارة والصناعة للبحر الأبيض المتوسط بين أكثر من 70 امرأة متوسطية؛ لتعزيز التعاون من أجل خلق فرص تجارية جديدة للنساء.
• توجد فجوة كبيرة بين الجنسين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا فيما يتعلق بريادة الأعمال: تدير نسبة تتراوح بين 13% و15% فقط من النساء أعمالهن، مقارنة بنسبة تتراوح بين 31% إلى 38% على مستوى العالم.
• تتوقع منظمة التعاون والتنمية في الميدان الاقتصادي أن تعزيز التمكين الاقتصادي للمرأة، يُمكن أن يؤدي إلى زيادة نصيب الفرد من إجمالي الناتج المحلي بنسبة 25% في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. في الدول أعضاء الاتحاد الأوروبي، تُشكِل المساواة بين الجنسين إمكانية لزيادة إجمالي الناتج المحلي بنسبة تتراوح بين 15% و45%.
