Conference on Greening Maritime Transport in the Mediterranean Sea

Antalya – New dates to be confirmed soon. The Conference on Greening Maritime Transport in the Mediterranean Sea, organized by the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye in Antalya, Türkiye, due the current situation has been postponed and the new dates will be communicated shortly.

The conference aims to share knowledge and strengthen cooperation between UfM countries and to explore the way forward for this green transition. It will do this, by:

• Setting the scene for the debates through a vision of the key challenges for sustainable ports and shipping in the Mediterranean Sea.
• Showcasing regional and international policy and regulatory frameworks which could encourage greener maritime transport.
• Discussing specific measures and success stories at the level of Mediterranean ports to make them greener and more sustainable.
• Reviewing actions and best practices on green shipping, as well as the support by green technologies within the framework of research and innovation initiatives.
• Discussing existing mechanisms targeting the protection of marine environment in the Mediterranean Sea.
• Leaning about current and future financing instruments supporting innovations towards green and sustainable shipping.

In addition, a field visit to the Port of Antalya is planned for the second day of the Conference.
