11-12 June 2026, Barcelona. The UfM will host a two-day in-person training session for representatives from the 13 universities and 13 municipalities from Morocco, Lebanon and Syria participating in the Women Leading Change initiative. The programme will include: a 6-hour in-person training session on recruitment and promotion without gender bias; a 3-hour in-person session on preventing and addressing sexual harassment; and a 6-hour training on gender, leadership, and mentoring, consisting of 3 hours delivered in person in Barcelona and an additional 3-hour online session scheduled for mid-July.
The online component will take the form of a 3-hour follow-up group session, delivered to the same participants who attended the in-person mentoring session, including representatives from beneficiary universities and municipalities. This session will build on the in-person training, enabling participants to consolidate their understanding of mentoring approaches and reflect on their application within their respective institutional contexts. In addition, a complementary training session on the collection and analysis of gender-disaggregated data will be organised in September 2026.
Together, all these activities aim to strengthen participants’ technical knowledge while enhancing their capacity to promote and disseminate gender-responsive practices within their institutions.
Women Leading Change is a capacity-building initiative led by a consortium of mentors coordinated by the Lebanese University. The consortium includes Aix-Marseille University (France), Antonine University (Lebanon), Tunis El Manar University (Tunisia), the University of Sousse (Tunisia), and the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). The team is further supported by external experts from Sapienza University of Rome and RESUFF.
