The role of women managing the pandemic at local and regional level
The pandemic has particularly impacted women and girls, exacerbating existing socio-economic inequalities. Post-COVID19 recovery responses require laws, policies and budgets with a gender perspective. Ensuring women’s participation and leadership in all spheres of life, including high-level decision-making processes at international, national, regional and local levels is key.
Mediterranean cities have become a hub of resilience, with numerous examples of transformative good practices that could be extrapolated to the whole region. Multi-level cooperation between both sides of the Mediterranean is a necessary instrument for an effective gender-responsive recovery in cities and regions.

How can gender equality foster sustainable development in cities and regions?
How can we ensure women’s leadership?
What can we learn from women’s participation in policy-making during the pandemic?
