2nd Meeting of the Drafting Group of the Union for Mediterranean Water Expert Group (WEG)

Malta, 26-27 July 2016.  The Water Expert Group (WEG) of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) convened for its 5th Meeting on 23-24 November 2015 in Luxemburg, giving the mandate to a smaller Drafting Group to work out a common UfM water agenda based on a Roadmap and associated Work Plan. It also suggested political impulse through a UfM Ministerial Conference to take place before mid-2017, in Malta.

The first meeting of the Drafting Group was held last 5 April 2016 in Athens. The second meeting is taking place on 26-27 July 2016 in Malta and its main objective will be to design a potential Roadmap/Action Plan on a UfM Water Agenda in the Mediterranean.

The 2nd Meeting of the Drafting Group of the UfM Water Expert Group is co-chaired by the UfM Co-Presidency, Jordan and the European Commission. It is organised by the UfM Secretariat-Division of Environment and Water, technically assisted by the Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the EU-supported H2020/SWIM II Support Mechanism Project. The 2nd Meeting is co-sponsored by the UfM and the GWP Water, Climate and Development Programme (GWP WACDEP).
