Project Manager

ICU – INSTITUTE FOR UNIVERSITY COOPERATION

JOB DESCRIPTION

ICU – INSTITUTE FOR UNIVERSITY COOPERATION is a Non-Governmental Organization that implements development cooperation projects in various countries of the Global South and promotes information and education initiatives on issues of international solidarity. Established in 1966, ICU aims to foster internationally the development of culture and science in the service of mankind. This purpose can be summarized in a twofold and interdependent action of:

Human and social development in less industrialized or transitional countries through international cooperation programs, with special emphasis on education;
Dissemination of a culture of development cooperation understood as the integral promotion of human dignity.
Position Description:

Senior figure, at least 5 years of experience in cooperation, preferably in the Middle East and with previous experience in team/mission coordination.

Area(s) of experience: experience in one or more of the following areas is positively valued: education and/or refugee protection and/or protection and inclusion of children/people with disabilities

Skills and Knowledge:

– Experience and familiarity with European PRAG procedures will be an asset;

– Experience with managing AICS projects including emergency channel;

– Experience in team/mission coordination is considered a plus;

– Strong organizational skills in managing several groups of articulated activities simultaneously.

– Ability to manage human and financial resources to achieve objectives on time and without overexpending;

Minimum Qualification Required: Possession of a Master’s Degree in social sciences, cooperation and international relations, or other relevant degree is a preference.

Knowledge Languages: Mother tongue Italian; English, minimum level fluent-C1; knowledge of basic Arabic is appreciated.

Having previously worked with ICUs is a preference

Expected Duties:

– General supervision of implemented activities to ensure that project objectives are achieved within prescribed timelines and within the parameters of funding received. Responsibility regarding the overall quality and management of the project. – Direct management, direction and coordination of project activities in coordination with partners and local stakeholders.
– Direct management, direction and coordination of project activities in coordination with partners and local stakeholders.
Selection and management of local staff, supervision and monitoring of their work.
Meetings with staff to explain project characteristics, assign tasks and responsibilities, outline work plan.
– Timely management of the budget and responsibility regarding the transparency of the same: formulation of initial monthly notes, identification of economic and financial commitments necessary for the implementation of the project, collection of the necessary bids according to the terms of reference for the management of purchases, making and authorizing the purchases of planned equipment and equipment;
– Management and responsibility for on-site bank accounts related to the project;
– Formulation of project management documents and regular transmission to NGO headquarters: Operational planning and related updates, Quarterly planning of on-site fund transfers, Monthly progress of in-country activities and related expenditures,
– Coordination with relevant stakeholders (partners, beneficiaries, relevant ministries, relevant international bodies, etc.);
– Preparation of project dissemination materials.
Need assessment and elaboration of new project proposals agreed with the NGO’s Italian office.
