
Union for the Mediterranean Secretary General participates in Dubrovnik Forum 2025 and meets Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General
14 July 2025, Dubrovnik. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Nasser Kamel, took part in the Dubrovnik Forum held on 11 July 2025 in Croatia. He joined the panel discussion titled “Connecting Economies, Empowering People: The New Pact for the Mediterranean”, alongside Dubravka Šuica, European Commission Commissioner for the Mediterranean; Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council; Ante Šušnjar, Minister of Economy of Croatia; Marko Štucin, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Slovenia and Maja Markovčić Kostelac, Executive Director of the European Maritime Safety Agency. The session focused on strengthening regional cooperation, advancing inclusive growth, and fostering shared prosperity across the Mediterranean, in the framework of the New EU Pact of the Mediterranean.
On the margins of the Forum, Nasser Kamel also held a bilateral meeting with Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Gulf Cooperation Council’ Secretary General. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on shared priorities and regional developments, with a focus on fostering synergies between the Union for the Mediterranean, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the European Union. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between regional organisations, in support of peace, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
Nasser Kamel also met on the sidelines of the Forum with Amer Kapetanović, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council.The meeting examined possibilities of cooperation with the Union for the Mediterranean for the benefit of close relations among the Euro-Mediterranean countries and partners.
