16-18 June 2026, Geneva, Switzerland. Building on the successful first edition of the UfM Study Visit on International Trade and Investment Policy, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean will join hands with the World Trade Organization (WTO), UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the International Trade Centre (ITC) to organize a UfM Study Visit on International Trade and Investment Policy for government officials of Non-EU UfM Member States. The Study visit will allow participants to gain practical knowledge of how to leverage the expertise and resources of the aforementioned organizations to promote inclusive growth, foster regional integration, and attract sustainable investment.
This collaboration will provide UfM countries with a comprehensive framework to address the region’s most pressing trade and investment challenges. The study visit takes place against a complex global context marked by geopolitical tensions, disruptive economic dynamics, major technological transformation, and the growing imperative to align trade and investment policies with climate and sustainability objectives. In this context, the visit will provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on recent multilateral developments and examine their implications for the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The study visit will focus on empowering government officials to better navigate the complexities of international trade and investment agreements and regimes, as well as gain practical knowledge to leverage the tools and frameworks offered by the multilateral trading system to address the specific challenges faced by the Mediterranean region. Through this training, the UfM Secretariat and its partners aim to enhance regional collaboration, improve policy coordination, and foster greater integration of Euro-Mediterranean countries into the global economy.
