Ambassador Fadi Hajali has been appointed Deputy Secretary General for Administration at the Union for the Mediterranean in March 2026.

A career diplomat with over three decades of experience, Hajali has held senior diplomatic and positions for Lebanon, including Head of mission to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as to Russia, Iran and Rome.  He has also served as Head of Cabinet to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the MENA Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in Beirut.

Throughout his career, he has focused on multilateral diplomacy, institutional coordination, and strategic engagement with European and regional partners. His tenure in Brussels was marked by sustained interaction with EU institutions and Mediterranean stakeholders, strengthening cooperation frameworks and dialogue mechanisms.

As Deputy Secretary General for Administration, he will oversee the Secretariat’s administrative, financial and institutional governance functions, contributing to the effective implementation of the Union for the Mediterranean’s mandate and operational priorities.
