Workshop on Inter -Trade development and supporting SMEs in Agadir Member countries
Headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean, 16 December 2013
The establishment of an ambitious, shared Euro-Mediterranean free trade area is an ultimate aim as stated in the Marseille Ministerial Conference held in November 2008. This significant objective is centred around actions on how to diversify and enhance trade, to encourage industrial integration and European investments in Mediterranean partner countries.
Regional economic integration is a top priority for the Arab Mediterranean countries, members of the Free Trade Agreement of Agadir. Whilst enhancing cooperation and regional integration between the two shores of the Mediterranean is one of the main objectives of the Union for the Mediterranean, boosting trade is one of the few means to bolster growth. Besides, the leading role of Small and Medium Enterprises as an important driver for job creation and economic growth should be encouraged and supported.
In this context, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean, in coordination with the Agadir Agreement Technical Unit (ATU), will organise a workshop to discuss trade development and support for Small and Medium Enterprises in the country members of Agadir agreement.
The workshop will discuss a regional study conducted by ATU on ways to support SMEs in the Agadir member countries and will analyse ways to develop the trade flow among them and the European market.
