The family of the UfM Secretariat joins the international community as it mourns the former South African leader, Nelson Mandela, who left our world (but not our memory) yesterday at the age of 95.

The man who, in 1994, became South Africa’s first black president, led a life marked by peaceful struggle for justice and freedom, finally succeeding in putting an end to the apartheid in his country and in uniting a divided nation.

This iconic statesman became a symbol of universal relevance, and the legacy he left will definitely inspire generations to come and give us all hope about a better future if we would follow the example of great people like Mandela.
