Access to finance: challenges and good practices to support women in business in MENA region
The Round Table will provide the platform to launch and discuss the UNIDO Technical Paper “A study on Women Entrepreneurship Development in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia”, which is based on an extensive survey on 1210 women entrepreneurs of the region. The objective is to promote increased awareness of the challenges and opportunities of women entrepreneurship in MENA countries and to foster the debate on possible solutions for the identified challenges. The round table and the panel discussion will promote an interactive discussion on the topic of access to finance in Europe and the MENA Region and will issue recommendations for addressing the challenges currently faced by Women entrepreneurs in the 6 Countries targeted by the UNIDO project.
The project aims to support, facilitate and nurture the policy dialogue between key stakeholders to ultimately foster women economic empowerment in the MENA region. Moreover, the project strengthens the capacities of national professional women’s associations to provide female entrepreneurs with higher-quality and demand-driven services to support the creation and growth of their enterprises and thus effectively promote an environment that are more conducive to the development of women’s entrepreneurship. At the same time, the project promotes promising women-led investments in the target countries through training, coaching, identification and facilitation of business partnerships opportunities and access to finance.
