6-7 May 2024, Porto, Portugal – The Member States of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and Social Partners will convene for the 18th UfM Regional Platform on Employment and Labour in Porto, Portugal. This key meeting will help prepare for the 6th UfM Ministerial Meeting on Employment and Labour, scheduled for 14 October 2025 in Valletta, Malta.
Sectoral focal points from UfM Member States will review the state of play of the 2022-2025 Roadmap, which implements the Declaration of the 5th UfM Ministerial on Employment and Labour, held in Marrakech on 18 May 2022. Dedicated sessions will focus on the second phase of the Community of Practice (CoP) on Youth Employment in the Southern Mediterranean and provide a briefing on the Monitoring exercise.
Participants will also take part in field visits to the Centre for the Development of Digital Skills and the Vocational Training Centre for the Textile, Clothing, Apparel, and Wool Industry (MODATEX).
The UfM Regional Platform on Employment and Labour meets twice per year. It is chaired by the UfM Co-Presidency—the European Commission (DG EMPL) and Jordan’s Ministry of Labour—and brings together representatives from employment and labour ministries and agencies of UfM Member States, along with European institutions, international organisations, and experts.
