26-29 May 2025, Istanbul – In line with its commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable development in the Mediterranean region, the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretariat, in collaboration with the German Development Cooperation, will organize the UfM Digital Sustainable Week in Istanbul from May 26 to 29, 2025.
This key regional event aims to explore the impact of AI, as well as sustainable trade and investment, in the Mediterranean.
On 26-27 May 2025, discussions will focus on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on economies and societies, addressing both opportunities and challenges, including ethical concerns and inclusivity. Sessions will also highlight women-led AI initiatives and AI’s role in creativity and innovation.
On 28 May 2025, the focus will shift to sustainable trade and investment, examining the intersection of economic growth, environmental responsibility, and AI technology.
To ensure a rich and impactful dialogue, the UfM will bring together prominent experts, policymakers, private sector representatives, civil society leaders, and academics from across the region. Participants will have the opportunity to provide their insights, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore future collaborations. Networking opportunities will help develop partnerships aimed at driving digital innovation and sustainability.
A field visit will follow on 29 May 2025 to the ICOC – Commercialization Center of Istanbul (İTO Bilgiyi Ticarileştirme Merkezi). It will include a campus tour and an introduction to this multifunctional entrepreneurship center, which supports entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas (start-ups). The visit will also feature a Turkish Startup Ecosystem Briefing and a Startup Presentation at BTM Stage, followed by a Q&A session.
On the sidelines of the event, three specialized side events will be held for a targeted audience:

Award Ceremony for Women in AI Contest and a Training on AI for for women-led businesses.
