‘Find the Med in your city’: Spanish National Organisation of the Blind lottery ticket marks the Day of the Mediterranean
Barcelona, November 28, 2023. The Spanish National Organisation of the Blind (ONCE) unveiled its Day of the Mediterranean-themed charity lottery ticket at the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) headquarters in Barcelona. Five million tickets, known as ‘cupones’ in Spanish, will be printed with the phrase ‘Find the Mediterranean in your city’ to mark the day. The ticket was presented to UfM Secretary General Nasser Kamel by Patricia Sanz, third Vice-president of the General Council of ONCE.
The Day of the Mediterranean, November 28, is an annual opportunity to promote intercultural exchanges, celebrate cooperation, embrace diversity and strengthen ties between both shores. In 2020, the Member States of the Union for the Mediterranean declared November 28 the Day of the Mediterranean, calling on the entire Euro-Mediterranean community to celebrate their shared identity, common heritage and love for the Mare Nostrum.
2nd EuroMed Conference on the Socioeconomic Inclusion
The Union for the Mediterranean and ONCE are organising the 2nd EuroMed Conference on the Socioeconomic Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Mediterranean Region, which will take place on January 23-24, 2024 in Amman, Jordan.
The Conference, which aims to provide a platform for the launch of the Regional Agenda on the Socioeconomic Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Mediterranean Region, is also supported by the Jordanian Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In addition, it will analyse the preliminary 2023 assessment on the socioeconomic inclusion of persons with disabilities in the Mediterranean region. It looks into the national policies and strategies of six countries (Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Italy, Malta and Spain), and includes findings from talks with with organisations of people with disabilities on both shores of the Mediterranean.
The ONCE ‘Cupón’The daily ONCE ‘Cupón’ charity lottery draw offers a €500,000-prize to the winning number plus the series as well as 49 €35,000-prizes to the five digits of the winning number. Tickets are sold by 19,000 vendors across Spain and are also available at www.juegosonce.es.
