One Planet Summit: UfM, committed to act in favor of biodiversity

The UfM seeks to mobilize its member states, partners and public and private sector in support of the Action Plan for an Exemplary Mediterranean 2030 to achieve the protection target of 30% of the planet’s surface areas.  11 January 2021, Paris. The fourth One Planet Summit brought together Heads of State and Government and decision-makers to speed up international action for nature. Towards a new UfM Strategic Urban Development Action Plan 2040

10 December 2020. The second meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Sustainable Urban Development took place on 10 December 2020 and saw the recommendation by consensus for the adoption of the UfM Strategic Urban Development Action Plan 2040 for sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities and communities in the Mediterranean and of the UfM Action Plan for Sustainable and Affordable Housing. Engagement in favour of Youth Voluntary actions: new agreement between the UfM, the Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Foundation and the Arab Voluntary Union

UfM Foreign Affairs Ministers set priority areas for stronger cooperation and integration in the Euro-Mediterranean region

The fifth edition of the UfM Regional Forum commemorated the launch of the Barcelona Process in 1995 as Foreign Affairs Ministers from UfM Member States gathered virtually today. UfM regional conference kicks-off to analyse women’s role at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic

Over 700 experts, policymakers and representatives from the private sector, the civil society and international organizations are gathering virtually this week to discuss the state of gender equality in the Mediterranean region in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 5th UfM Women4Mediterranean Conference kicked-off yesterday with the launch of the first-ever Intergovernmental Monitoring Mechanism on Gender Equality in a meeting of the UfM Member States. More than 300 international experts discuss how to create job and trade opportunities in times of COVID-19

Over 300 experts, policymakers and representatives from the private sector, the civil society and international organizations today gathered online at the “UfM Trade and Investment Forum” to discuss trade, investment and employment opportunities in the Mediterranean region in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. UfM Ministers highlight the importance of regional trade in economic recovery

The 42 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) convened today by videoconference for the 11th Trade Ministerial Conference to launch three new trade and investment initiatives. The UfM and Spanish Environment Minister call for reinforced cooperation to address the climate emergency in the Mediterranean

UfM Member States endorse two new projects to fight violence against women and to enhance the conservation of wetlands in the Mediterranean

5 November 2020. In the framework of the 25 year anniversary of Barcelona Process, the Senior Officials of the UfM Member States met to endorse two new projects and to discuss preparations of the 5th UfM Regional Forum, which will be held at the end of the month.    The meeting took place virtually and provided the occasion to join forces with the World Health Organisation to improve countries capacities in preventing and responding to violence against women as a key public health issue.
