The Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), Taieb Baccouche, joined by AMU’s Director of Cabinet, Political Affairs and Information, Besma Soudani, visited for the first time the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona and met with its Secretary General, Nasser Kamel. Nasser Kamel, the Secretary General of the Union of the Mediterranean, participated in the 15th Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 5+5 Dialogue in Valletta (Malta). The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), actively participates in COP24 in Poland, where it presents two studies on the impact of climate change and on the state of play of climate finance in the region. Without additional mitigation, regional temperature increase will be of 2.2°C in 2040, possibly exceeding 3.8°C in some regions in 2100. In 2018, an average of one in four young North Africans is not in employment, education or training (NEETs) At the same time, in the Euro-Mediterranean region, hundreds of thousands of job positions are not filled due to a lack of suitable profiles. The skills gap is one of the main obstacles to the recruitment of young people.
