Barcelona, 15 September, 2014. Mr Naser Tahboub was appointed yesterday as the new UfM Deputy Secretary General for Water & Environment by Union for the Mediterranean Senior Officials in Brussels. Originally from Palestine, Mr Naser Tahboub began his career at the West Bank Ministry of Finance and worked as General Manager at the Al-Aqsa Islamic Bank. Prior to assuming his position at the UfM Secretariat, he held the positions such as Director of the Al Quds University Economic Development Centre and Vice Chairman of the Palestine Capital Market Authority, in addition to serving as Deputy Minister of National Economy. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Fathallah Sijilmassi, and the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo, held a bilateral meeting today at the Ministry’s headquarters, in Madrid, to discuss Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and regional challenges, as well as the consolidation of the role of the Union for the Mediterranean for the reinforcement of regional cooperation and integration.
