UfM Senior Officials hold its first meeting of the year to prepare Ministerial Meetings on Employment and Labor and on Research and Innovation
7 March 2022. Senior Officials of the Union for the Mediterranean held virtually their first meeting of the year 2022 to review the upcoming ministerial meetings that will take place this year, namely on Employment and Labor (Marrakech, 17-18 May) and on Research and Innovation (France, virtual, 27 June). They were also updated on the potential Ministerial meeting on Transport, as well as on the proposal for a UfM Ministerial Conference on Strengthening the Role of Women in Society. Senior Officials were also briefed on the activities related to the UfM 2022 work program in several key sectors, including Urban development and Industrial Cooperation, among others.
The UfM Secretary General, Nasser Kamel, presented the activities of the UfM Secretariat for the 1st semester of 2022 and evoked the next edition of the Day of the Mediterranean, as well as the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (UNFCCC – COP 27) in Sharm-el-Sheikh. SG Kamel underlined the importance of this COP 27 for the Euro-Mediterranean region, both for the importance of what is at stake but also because of it being held in a Mediterranean country and a Member State of the UfM, Egypt.
