The UfM and Spanish Environment Minister call for reinforced cooperation to address the climate emergency in the Mediterranean
• The UfM Secretary General and Spanish Vice-President and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge meet to reinforce cooperation for sustainability in the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Barcelona Process, taking place this year.
During the meeting, UfM SG and Minister Ribera highlighted the urgent need to address the impact of climate change in the Mediterranean, where the temperature is already warming up 20% faster than the global average, according to a scientific report presented last year at the 4th UfM Regional Forum. They also underlined the need to shift towards sustainable consumption and production patterns for a green and low emission economy.
The meeting was also the opportunity to further prepare 2021 UfM Ministerial Meetings on Energy, Blue Economy and Environment and Climate Action.
