UfM participates at the launching of a new Regional Network of Think Tanks
Barcelona, 23-24 May 2016. 30 think tanks and public diplomacy institutions from the ten countries that make up the 5+5 Dialogue agreed to launch ‘Med Think 5+5’ as they met today at the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona. ‘Med Think 5+5’ is a network of think tanks promoted by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), aimed at embracing dialogue and research as tools of a reinforced regional integration in the Western Mediterranean region through presenting findings for the consideration of decision makers within the framework of the 5+5 Dialogue.
The ‘I Medthink Forum’ during which created the Network was inaugurated by UfM Secretary General, Fathallah Sijilmassi; and IEMed Executive Director, Senén Florensa; with the participation of high representatives from several Ministries of Foreign Affairs, including the host country, Spain, and the two current Co-Presidents of 5+5 Dialogue, namely France and Portugal.
The Network will be constituted this year, during which a two-year work plan for 2017-2018 will be approved. The plan is expected to include the programming of a major annual forum, as well as seminars and symposia, and the launch of three annual research projects and digital dissemination tools.
