UfM promotes student mobility across the Mediterranean region
Barcelona, 27 November, 2013. The first working meeting towards the elaboration of a Euro-Mediterranean Student Mobility framework initiative was held today at the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean. The meeting gathered more than 30 key experts and stakeholders in the field of youth mobility.
The aim of the meeting was to draw lessons from past and on-going mobility programmes in the Mediterranean region, brainstorm ideas and priority areas for action and discuss the short-term and mid-term goals of this UfM initiative. The meeting also provided an excellent opportunity for the Secretariat to stimulate and promote the development of regional pilot projects in the field of mobility.
The Euro-Mediterranean Student Mobility framework initiative will also include the creation of a study-map outlining the current state of play of student mobility within the Euro-Mediterranean countries and identifying key areas for development.
Among the participating institutions were universities and ministries from the Euro-Mediterranean region, DAAD, the Anna Lindh Foundation, UNICA, UNIMED and the Mediterranean Office for Youth. The next working meeting is planned to take place in February 2014.
