11th Mediterranean Economic Rendezvous
Villa Méditerranée, Marseille, 7 November 2015
The UfM Secretary General will participate in the 11th Mediterranean Economic Rendezvous, organised by the Institute of the Mediterranean/FEMISE and the Circle of Economists, with the support of the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union. The conference will take place in Marseille, France, on 7 November 2015.
This event will conclude Mediterranean Economic Week, which has been running in Marseille since 4 November 2015. It will bring together ministers, government officials, members from economic and social committees, international financial institutions, donors and private sector representatives, as well as academics, to discuss strengthening partnership between the European Union and the Maghreb countries through the areas of vocational training and entrepreneurship.
The UfM is currently promoting 13 projects on youth employability and inclusive growth. Several of them contribute to enhance entrepreneurship or vocational training in the region. This is the case, for instance, with the New Chance Mediterranean Network project and the Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Technology (INSA Euro-Méditerranée) within the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes (UEMF). Both of these will be presented as best practice in one of the conference’s five working sessions.
Fathallah Sijilmassi, the UfM Secretary General, will deliver the opening speech at the 11th Mediterranean Economic Rendezvous, along with Nicolas Schmit, Luxembourg’s Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy.
