25th Anniversary of UNIMED

The UfM Secretariat will attend the 25th Anniversary of UNIMED, which will coincide with its General Assembly, on 20-21 October 2016 in Rome at the University of Sapienza.
The UNIMED General Assembly will provide a great opportunity for the UfM Secretariat to reaffirm its close relationship with the network, and to exchange with representatives of other institutional and political stakeholders on the state of play of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the higher education.
Since its inauguration in 2010, the UfM Secretariat has worked determinedly towards advancing higher education cooperation and student mobility in the Mediterranean sphere, acting as a facilitator of dialogue between universities, higher education institutions and other related stakeholders from across the 43 UfM countries. In these efforts, UNIMED has been one of the key partners. Indeed, UNIMED being a network gathering together 93 universities from 23 countries on both rims of the Mediterranean has created strong and fruitful synergies with the UfMS projects, activities and main objectives.
The workshop discussions on the second day of the conference will in particular concern open education and employability of young people in the Mediterranean, which are themes of great importance for the UfM Secretariat in line with its action to promote youth employability and cooperation in higher education and vocational training through its labelled projects and regional dialogue.
