EU-UfM Egypt Water Governance & Business Forum
19 October 2020.The 2nd Cairo Water Week (CWW) will be held next October in Cairo, between 18-22 October 2020, under the auspices of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Cairo Water Week (CWW) is considered one of the biggest water-related events at the national, regional and international levels. It has grown significantly over the past 2 years with an all-time record of 1000 participants so far, and it is anticipated that the event in October 2020, will break the barrier of 1200 participants from all over the world
As part of the Cairo Water Week, the EU Delegation with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) will be organizing on the 19 of October 2020 the event “EU-Egypt- UfM Water Investment Forum” (draft agenda). Indeed, the event will have both a national and a regional dimension. The conclusions of the Forum will inform the future programming of EU support to Egypt and the North African region.
The discussion during this high-level Forum shall deal with the Mediterranean water files including the UfM vision and plan for sustainable development and issues related to sustainable finance in water infrastructure. Furthermore, this event shall discuss possible partnership opportunities made available through the launching of the “European External Investment Plan” (EIP) and the “European Sustainable Fund for Development” (EFSD), and possible cooperation between UfM, the EU, and IFIs.
