5-7 October 2026, Barcelona, Spain – The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) will organize the UfM Higher Education and Research Week from 5 to 7 October 2026 at the UfM premises in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together national representatives designated by UfM Member States, alongside representatives of relevant regional and international institutions.
The three-day event will provide a platform to review progress, exchange policy perspectives and strengthen regional cooperation in higher education, research and innovation across the Euro-Mediterranean region. It will also support dialogue among Member States and partners on shared challenges, priorities and opportunities for advancing the regional agenda in these areas.
The programme will feature three key meetings: the Meeting of the UfM National Focal Points on Higher Education on 5 October, the Policy Conference “Co-Creating the Common Mediterranean Knowledge Space” on 6 October, and the 32nd Meeting of the UfM Platform on Research and Innovation on 7 October.
Across the three days, discussions will focus on strengthening policy dialogue and coordination among UfM Member States, exchanging experiences and identifying common priorities for future regional cooperation. The outcomes of the meetings will contribute to shaping the UfM regional agenda on higher education, research and innovation and will provide key inputs for the preparation of the UfM Ministerial Conferences on Higher Education and Research and Innovation to be held in 2027.
