21-26 March – The UfM has been a key actor in building a one Mediterranean voice in view of the celebration of the 9th edition of the World Water Forum (9WWF) in Dakar, Senegal, the world’s biggest water-related event.
The UfM has actively participated in the Mediterranean preparatory process towards the 9WWF. Last December 2021 the UfM, jointly with its partners the Energy and Water Agency of Malta and the Institut Méditerranéen de l’Eau (IME), held the 4th Mediterranean Water Forum. Initiated in Marrakech in 2011, the Mediterranean Water Forum is a regional event that brings together the main stakeholders in the Mediterranean water community to exchange water management solutions amongst each other. The main outcomes of the forum will be presented during the 9th World Water Forum, which will basically showcase the Mediterranean as a hub of innovative water management solutions and exemplify how collective work and cooperation can promote regional stability of both political economies and livelihoods.
