Towards a just green transition that promotes inclusive economic development
- The UfM Forum “Green Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to Sustainable and Inclusive Employment” Forum explored the intersection of green entrepreneurship and just transition. It highlighted EU-funded regional initiatives supporting the green economy, social entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion of women and youth.
- The Forum was jointly organised by the European Commission and the Business Development Centre (BDC) on behalf of the UfM Co-Presidency. It is part of the UfM Roadmap on Employment and Labour (2022–2025), reflecting the UfM’s ongoing commitment to fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient Mediterranean region.
Amman, 30 April 2025. The Mediterranean region is advancing green entrepreneurship and digital transformation as pathways to fair and inclusive economic growth. This emerging trend is paving the way for opportunities for job creation and self-employment, including vulnerable groups, especially among youth and women in the region. With nearly half the population in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries under 25 years of age capitalising on the potential of youth through green practices and entrepreneurship is vital for inclusive economic growth and positive social impact.
The UfM Forum “Green Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to Sustainable and Inclusive Employment,” part of the UfM Roadmap on Employment and Labour (2022-2025), provided an opportunity to explore the link between green entrepreneurship and fair, inclusive economic growth. It presented initiatives from the UfM Grant Scheme to promote Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Green Economy, particularly “GREEN&FAIR” and “Get Into Green” which are supporting women and youth from vulnerable communities across the Mediterranean.
The forum also featured EU-funded regional initiatives promoting the green economy, social entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion of women and youth, including within the Regional Team Europe Initiative on Jobs through Trade and Investment.
