• The Mediterranean is one of the most vulnerable regions to the adverse effects of climate change.
• In the run-up to the COP 21 in Paris, the UfM Informal High-Level Conference on Climate Change in Skhirat, Morocco contributes to fostering regional dialogue and cooperation to support Mediterranean countries’ ongoing efforts to achieve climate change goals.

The Union for the Mediterranean presented its strategy for establishing a reinforced regional climate change cooperation framework in the Mediterranean region.

• During a two-day meeting held at the headquarters of the UfM Secretariat on 13-14 October, the first gathering of the UfM Climate Change Expert Group (UfM CCEG) marked an initial vital step towards setting the Mediterranean agenda against climate change.

• The meeting took place as a direct follow-up to the UfM Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Change, held in Athens on 13 May 2014.

• The UfM Secretariat participated in the UN Climate Summit 2014, organised by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

• The Summit brought together world leaders from governments, finance, business and civil society, to champion an ambitious vision and catalyse action against climate change.
