EMUNI University: UfM remains committed to supporting innovative higher education in the Mediterranean
12 July, Barcelona. The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretary General Nasser Kamel met with the President of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI), Prof. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, to reaffirm the UfM’s commitment to the institution. EMUNI conducts accredited study programmes and quality research serving Euro-Mediterranean interests and addressing regional challenges, as well as contributing to a dynamic network of higher education and research institutions as an inclusive platform for inter-cultural dialogue and science diplomacy in the region.
Prof. El-Zoheiry also met the UfM Higher Education and Research Division team to discuss the implementation of the UfM’s commitments to the University. In particular, the UfM is fully supporting the EMUNI Annual Conference taking place from 13 to 15 September in Piran, which will be held during the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU and will be an excellent opportunity to gather international experts on the challenges to higher education in post-COVID era. Other topics of discussion included the two training webinars on blue skills, careers, and jobs to be organised by EMUNI in the framework of technical assistance to the UfM, and the closing conference of the project VISION (Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance), which is paving the way for the future of teaching and training for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. These events are all set to take place this year.

The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) is a flagship UfM-labelled project, established within the framework of the Declaration of the Paris Summit for the Mediterranean (Paris, 13th July 2008). The institution gathers knowledge and experience from over 130 universities from 33 different countries, significantly contributing to the creation of an integrated Euro-Mediterranean Higher Education and Research Area.
