2nd Mediterranean Green Week

Overview

The 2nd Mediterranean Green Week is a key regional gathering convened by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) to foster collaboration on climate adaptation and mitigation, environmental sustainability, resilient infrastructure, Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus, and inclusive green energy transition across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Taking place in Brussels from 24 to 27 June 2025, this second edition brings together representatives from all 43 UfM Member States—alongside civil society, youth, experts and private sector actors—to advance shared solutions to the region’s pressing environmental and climate challenges.

Through high-level discussions, expert panels and capacity-building workshops, the event will support policy dialogue, strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation, promote innovative and gender-responsive practices, and reinforce the science-policy interface for a more resilient and sustainable Mediterranean.

Participation in this event is by invitation only.

AGENDA AND CONCEPT NOTE

What to expect at the 2nd Mediterranean Green Week?

High-level panels

Youth engagement dialogue

A dedicated space for young Mediterranean voices to shape the regional climate agenda and present outcomes to global fora.

Gender and climate capacity buidling

A capacity-building event to promote gender-sensitive environmental governance and unlock opportunities for women-led green solutions.

CBAM training

Training session to prepare businesses outside the EU for potential impacts from the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Networking and side events

Capacity building

Offer hands-on training, including sessions on the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and gender-sensitive environmental policies.

Date and location

Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place, 24–27 June 2025.

Last year's edition

Held in Istanbul in May 2024, the inaugural Mediterranean Green Week convened over 150 participants to tackle the region’s urgent environmental, climate, and energy challenges.

Co-organised by the UfM and OECD, the event launched key initiatives including a regional working group on hydrogen and emissions abatement, and the Med Alliance of Think Tanks on Climate Change.

It marked a milestone in fostering whole-of-society approaches, encouraging inclusive policy dialogue and science-based cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
