21 June, 14:30. The 2nd Independent Dialogue of the UN Food Systems Summit will be convened by the UfM the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the UN One Planet Network Sustainable Food Systems Programme, and the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area Foundation (PRIMA), to continue advancing a common understandng of the complex environment of sustainable food systems in the Mediterranean region.
The event builds on the findings of the 1st Dialogue held on 27 April, and will foster inclusive discussions to identify common pathways for sustainable food systems (SFS) in the Mediterranean, supporting their transformation and ultimately advancing progress on the 2030 Agenda in the region.
The outcomes of this 2nd Dialogue will feed into the Summit preparatory process and into the programme of the 3rd Mediterranean Diet World Conference on SFS in the Mediterranean.
The 2nd Dialogue will allow to set the stage for the inception of the SFS-MED Platform, a multi-stakeholder initiative currently under co-development by CIHEAM, FAO and UfM, as an affiliated project of the OPN-SFSP. The SFS-MED Platform aims at tackling the interdependent environmental, economic, socio-cultural, educational and health/nutrition challenges that the region is facing, through a context-specific approach for the Mediterranean.
This Dialogue will be live-streamed on the UfM YouTube channel.
