4 December 2024, Marseille – In line with its commitment to a youthful, inclusive and sustainable vision of the Mediterranean, HOMERe and the UfM are organizing a regional conference entitled “International mobility in the Mediterranean: spurring employability and the professionalization of careers”.
The UfM-labelled HOMERe internships’ programme, is predominantly aimed at high-achieving students in their last year of study before graduation, with the objective of easing their transition from an academic environment to a graduate position in their own country.
The event will define common grounds on the topic and explore the impact generated by youth study and internship mobility, with a special focus on the sustainability transition’s impact on jobs and skills across the Mediterranean region. As businesses, organizations, and practices undergo sustainability transition, it naturally follows that there will be a corresponding shift in careers, job roles, and required competencies. This evolution needs a focused effort to upskill the workforce, ensuring that aspiring professionals and managers of the region are well equipped with the knowledge and abilities needed for new, sustainable professions.
Promoting sustainable careers for professionals and young researchers is an essential step in this process, but most importantly, a multi-stakeholder commitment is needed to effectively reconcile labour market skills through genuine diagnosis and dialogue involving universities, academia and training providers, alongside employers and their respective representatives in the region.
This event will be a strategic opportunity to bring together relevant stakeholders to share expertise, facts and to build inclusive processes to highlight key challenges, Euro-Mediterranean cooperation schemes deployed and to build together a community of practice with a shared interest for the regional mobility of youth and female students in learning.
