Senior Officials Meeting (SOM)
8 July 2025, Brussels. The upcoming Senior Officials Meeting on 8 July in Brussels will review a new strategic vision for the UfM, developed through an inclusive consultation process with UfM divisions, Member States, civil society, academics, and partners, resulting in a shared roadmap for enhanced Mediterranean cooperation.
The UfM Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) is a gathering of high-ranking government officials to discuss and coordinate on various matters. The Meetings (SOM) provide the framework to discuss the current political context and coordinate the work of the UfM Secretariat. They approve the budget and work programme of the Secretariat and set the basis to prepare the Ministerial Meetings. They also discuss the project proposals submitted for approval and endorsement. The Senior Officials take decisions by consensus.
