UfM-Sciences Po high-level conference: Regional cooperation in the face of global challenges

13 March 2024, SciencesPo, Paris Campus – Despite a challenging regional and international context, Euro-Mediterranean cooperation has grown ‎and expanded in the last decade and has managed to respond, to a certain extent, to expectations in ‎the region. ‎

Unfortunately, the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Palestine and consequently of tensions ‎at regional and global levels, make it challenging to continue strengthening Euro-Mediterranean cooperation through ‎its unique multilateral framework: the UfM. This situation raises the more general question of the role ‎and functioning of cooperation and dialogue in times of crises and open conflicts.‎

Jointly organised by the UfM Secretariat and the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po ‎‎(PSIA), in partnership with the Interministerial Delegation for the Mediterranean (DIMED) of the ‎Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, this conference aims to:‎

• ‎Assess the 15 years of the UfM and analyze the organization’s role in times of crisis, and how it can continue working to ensure stability, security, ‎and development in the region
• ‎Explore strategic paths for Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the future (political, economic, ‎climatic, food, cultural dimensions, etc.)
