Exploring innovative teaching methods for traditional construction techniques in Marseille

This two-day field visit brought together stakeholders from Morocco and Tunisia to explore successful programmes focused on teaching and applying traditional building skills. The discussions centred on innovative methods for integrating these techniques into certified training programmes, with the aim of fostering sustainable building practices and creating meaningful, skilled jobs linked to heritage protection.

The key objectives of the event were to raise awareness and preserve vernacular architecture, explore ways to incorporate traditional construction techniques into modern training programmes, promote solutions adaptable to current climate challenges, and encourage the establishment of certified programmes for traditional building skills in participating countries.

Building on the success of the Marseille visit, a new edition of the Field Visits on Traditional Building Skills will take place in Berlin, Germany, from 8-10 April 2025. This upcoming event aims to continue the momentum of these important discussions and further strengthen sustainable building practices across the region.
