Enhanced Regional cooperation: a strategic objective in the new European Neighbourhood Policy

Pedro Sánchez pays visit to the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean

Barcelona, 16 November 2015. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Fathallah Sijilmassi, received today the Secretary General of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), Pedro Sánchez. The Secretary General of the UfM and the Secretary General of the PSOE exchanged views on the current Mediterranean context and discussed the state of play and relevance of the UfM activities. Statement by the UfM Secretary General on the multiple attacks in Paris

The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean expresses his deep emotion at the heinous terrorist attacks perpetrated in Paris on 13 November. He condemns strongly these barbaric terrorist acts and presents his condolences to the families of victims, his thoughts to the injured, and his profound solidarity with France. Summit on Migration of EU and African heads of state and government in Malta: the final declaration stresses the importance of addressing the socio-economic root causes of migration challenges in the Mediterranean
