UfM launches project to provide economically disadvantaged young women with skills and tools to successfully access the job market

Energy and Water at the heart of World Water Day 2014

Barcelona, 22 March 2014. The Union for the Mediterranean joins the international community in expressing the need to find global and regional solutions to address the challenges surrounding energy and water (water-energy-nexus), highlighting the interlinkage of the two sectors, and the need for more resource-efficiency, which is a particular concern also in the Mediterranean region. In this regard, the consultants undertaking the current technical preparations of the UfM-labelled project Desalination Facility for the Gaza Strip are also evaluating power supply options that include renewable sources of energy. UfM supports the promotion of a culture of Mediation in the Mediterranean Region

Brdo, 11 March 2014.  The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean participated today in the seminar ‘Promoting a Culture of Mediation and Prevention in the Mediterranean’, organised in Bro, Slovenia, by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bled Strategic Forum. The seminar was held within the framework of the Initiative on Mediation in the Mediterranean Region. Spain and Morocco launched the Initiative on Mediation in the Mediterranean in September 2012. The UfM-labelled project “Jordanian National Railway project as part of a Regional Railway Network” has been selected among the 2014 Strategic Top 100 Global Infrastructure Projects by CG/LA Infrastructure.
