Launching of UfM project SKILLS FOR SUCCESS: EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS FOR WOMEN in Lebanon Workshop on vocational training for girls and women

With the aim to foster employment opportunities, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean will be launching Phase I[1] of the project “Skills for Success: Employability Skills for Women”. This UfM project seeks to support 450 young women and girls from Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia in acquiring the tools, knowledge and skills needed to access local labour markets.
The project will be implemented in Lebanon from October 2014 to February 2015. Additionally, a workshop on vocational training for girls and women will be held to analyse the current context of the sector in the Euro-Mediterranean region, with an emphasis on Lebanon.
Scheduled for 10 October, the event will count with the participation of UfM Deputy Secretary General Delphine Borione, Lebanese authorities in charge of vocational training, European Union Delegation Representatives to Lebanon, non-profit organisation and Skills for Success promoter AMIDEAST, PepsiCo as one of the donors to the project, the European Training Foundation, the International Labour Organisation, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR), as well as several civil society participants who are active in women empowerment and vocational training initiatives, including the private sector from Lebanon and the wider region.
