Reinforcing transport in the Mediterranean: UfM announces the start of the implementation phase of LOGISMED-TA
Barcelona, 20 December, 2013. Promoted by the European Investment Bank and endorsed by the 43 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean, the LOGISMED Training Activities (LOGISMED-TA) project was launched in Barcelona in June 2013, following securement of the project’s funding. After completion of the necessary formalities for the release of funds, LOGISMED-TA is entering its implementation phase in December 2013, as originally planned. The UfM Secretariat will now assume monitoring duties, as foreseen in the project lifecycle of the UfM Secretariat.
This UfM-labelled project aims to increase training facilities at national level and improve the qualifications of operators and managers of logistics platforms, with a view to generating valuable and skilled human resources to operate the platforms. The target of these series of training activities will be logistic and transport enterprises (offering logistic services), loaders (demanding logistic services), operating staff of the platforms in five levels of professional categories, platform managers, as well as the public sector of the Mediterranean partner countries.
LOGISMED-TA will be implemented in ten Mediterranean Partner Countries (actions at national level) and in five logistics platforms (actions at platforms level), gradually improving the performance of the logistics sector in the entire region, through the principle of variable geometry. The project will be initially implemented in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
LOGISMED-TA is promoted by the European Investment Bank, and funded by the European Commission and the Deauville Partnership Fund.
