The designated Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean meets the Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation
In their first meeting, they underlined their strong commitment to work together for the Mediterranean and to foster regional dialogue and cooperation in concrete projects.
Madrid, 26 June 2018. The designated Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean was received by the Spanish Minister, Josep Borrell, as representative of the host country of the organisation. Nasser Kamel thanked the Minister for the strong and continuous support of Spain to the Union for the Mediterranean and the lead role it plays in the Euro Mediterranean relations ever since the Barcelona Process.
Nasser Kamel presented the present and future priorities of the Union for the Mediterranean and highlighted the key ambitions of his mandate, during which he will endeavour to help solve, or at least mitigate, the negative implications of some of the challenges the Mediterranean region is facing today.
Josep Borrell reaffirmed the commitment of Spain to the work of the Union for the Mediterranean and its resoluteness to continue supporting the organisation in order to contribute to the stability and the human development of the Euro Mediterranean region.
