The Secretary General of the UfM took part in the final conference of the New Medina Cooperation program
Tangiers, 12 June, 2013. The Secretary General attended the final conference of the New Medina Cooperation program under the chairmanship of his Excellency, the Minister for Urban and City Planning of Moroco, Mr. Nabil Benabdellah.
The program New Medina is a program of cooperation between new cities, financed by the European Commission under CIUDAD (Cooperation and Dialogue on Urban Development), with the objective of identifying best practices for sustainable new cities in the southern shore of the Mediterranean. The consortium of the project is composed of the Agglomération nouvelle Marne La Vallée, the Platforme des villes Nouvelles and TOUZIA Solidarité. Cities from Egypt, Algeria and Morocco participate in the program.
The final conference drew conclusions and best practices of the program and discussed future lines of cooperation.
Urban Development is a working priority of the Secretariat of the UfM, after the priorities identified at the Euro Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Urban Development that took place in Strasbourg in 2011.
